About us
The New Testament Church
Despite the religious conflict in the world, the New Testament teaches us of one true church. (Eph 4:4-6). In Mark 9:1, Jesus told his disciples the church would come with power. Just before Jesus ascended, he told his apostles to wait in Jerusalem “until you are clothed with the power on high.” The coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost provided this power (Acts 1:6-8). On the day of Pentecost we know the church was established, for this was the first time the “Lord added to the church those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47).
The Church was part of God’s PlanFrom the beginning of time, God planned to establish the church. “So that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. This was in accordance with the eternal purpose which He carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord” Eph. 3:10-11
Unity with the Lord’s Church
There was unity in teaching and practice within the early church in the New Testament. “And the congregation of those who believed were of one heart and soul” Acts 4:32“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” Acts 2:42
Worship within the Lord’s Church
“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.” John 4:23
In the early church, we see examples of Christians doing the following when they met together on the first day of the week.
The Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 11:23-29)
Singing (Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:19)
Prayer (Acts 4:31)
Giving (1 Cor. 16: 1-2)
Evangelism (Acts 20:7)
